Collection: Anne R. Hernandez
Primitive painter Anne Reese Hernandez has spent nearly 20 years capturing the spirit of the Houston Heights. Her vibrant, folk art-style paintings depict historic homes, churches, and local landmarks. Anne is a longtime preservationist with a deep appreciation for Houston’s architectural history. In addition to cityscapes, she paints portraits, self-portraits, garden scenes, and notable figures like Huey Long and Bert Long Jr. Originally from Gueydan, Louisiana, Anne studied at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Her work is shaped by a sense of nostalgia and a love for past neighborhoods. She uses colorful acrylics and detailed watercolors to bring her memories to life. Each painting serves as a window into Houston’s rich cultural and architectural past. Her art is widely collected and admired. It continues to resonate with those who cherish memory, place, and character.
